Master Narratives and Individuation and the Entropic Brain - Unlimited Mind
Master Narratives and Individuation
Human development never occurs in a vacuum and is always influenced by the determinant forces of parental, social, and historical narrative. Such implicit ties to broader culture weave through our personal experience and cultivate into either life-affirming or life-compromising ideas about our potential in life. In this presentation, Alex will discuss the importance of slicing through Master Narratives as a mechanism to renegotiate personal meaning and power. He will deliver an introspective talk perhaps best captured in the vein of Carl Jung’s notion of the path to “Individuation” -- a journey into uncompromised selfhood.
A simple to follow process called the Life Scribe(TM) Method will be introduced as means and mechanism to re-negotiate our relationship with others in our interpersonal world, as well as within our broader circle of influence. The approach is based on Alex’s work with narrative and linguistics, the unconscious mind, and the concept of felt sense in somatic practice.

Entropic Brain -- Unlimited Mind The brain conceptualises altered states of consciousness in unusual and varied ways. Many researchers have investigated the boundaries between delusion, transcendence, and what we might call “veridical” psi occurrences. Despite this, we have yet to come up with a unified mind-brain theory to explain altered states and transcendence experiences.
To provide a case in point, Alex will canvass common themes in over 1,500 accounts of out-of-body experience (OBE) from individuals he has either surveyed or interviewed throughout his research career. He will discuss an emerging theory of Entropic Consciousness that could unify all three major perspectives on psi research -- not only with reference to OBEs, but also to other commonly reported psi phenomena such as telepathic communication, clairvoyance, precognition, absent healing, and mind-over-matter phenomena.
To conclude, he will explore piloted techniques based on his own clinical work in Melbourne with the use of:1) portable Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation;2) Stroboscopic Light Devices (such as the Pandora Star Light), and 3) Virtual Presence Embodiment (VPE) as three mechanisms that can help us navigate and redefine the boundaries and potentials of mind. ·
How does the narratives, stories and meaning derived from our lives influence our development?
Knowing the impact of such narratives, is there a way of applying this consciously and creatively in our lives for making positive changes in ourselves?
And what about experiences which go beyond the normal experiences like altered states and out-of-body experiences (OBEs)?
Could these be much more common, but are diverted from attention due to a lack of narratives?
Given the appropriate narratives, could these altered states integrate more into our ‘normal’ lives?
Bio Dr Alexander De Foe, Ph.D. is a cognitive scientist based in Melbourne. Over the past 10 years he has examined the determinants of human consciousness and perception via experimental work with a broad spectrum of participants. From time to time, he teaches workshops on transcendent and altered states of consciousness, and also provides individual consultations at the “Centre for Exceptional Human Potential”.
